About the service

The Manage At Home Equipment Assessment Service is a personalised, online video assessment service for our customers. The assessments are provided by our experienced occupational therapists (OTs) who are all DBS checked members of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Our experienced occupational therapists will meet with you via a secure video link and talk through any difficulties you experience at home. We offer advice and make recommendations about any equipment that we feel may help you to manage at home as well as signposting you to local services is appropriate. We will never recommend any equipment or solutions that we don’t think will help you.

Please note: We are not able to discuss moving and handling / hoists and complex transfer aids as this would require a full home visit. We also cannot provide specific guidance for any major home adaptations (for instance stairlifts or level access showers) for the same reason.

What to expect

Initial Call

A 15-minute telephone call with the occupational therapist to identify your concerns and book the assessment appointment.

We will then confirm your booking and send you further details and information including a secure link to the video meeting, (or details of the location if a face-to-face appointment is required).

Consultation / Assessment Visit
  • Duration: About 1 hour.
  • A video meeting on your phone or tablet, or in-person at one of our Medequip locations.
  • Discussion on how you are managing at home.
  • Written report with recommendations provided within 10 working days.
  • Discount code for reduced price of equipment following your assessment.
Follow up Call

One 15-minute follow-up call within 1 month to review what was discussed at the initial appointment.

Service details

This service is for adults over the age of 18 only, and for individuals who mainly need help due to physical disability or frailty. If you're booking this service for someone else, please make sure you have their consent to have a consultation before booking.

The service includes an initial (approximately 15 minutes) telephone call with the therapist to identify your concerns and to book the appointment with you. We will also provide a Measurement Preparation Form for you to complete prior to your visit or video call.

The consultation will last about an hour, and the therapist will discuss how you are managing at home and will provide a written report with recommendations within 10 working days. You will also receive a unique discount code for reduced price of equipment following your assessment.
Any recommendations made are based solely on clinical need. There is no obligation to purchase equipment, and the assessment fee is payable irrespective of any subsequent purchase.
We will then provide one (approximately 15 minutes) follow up telephone call within 1 month to review what was discussed at the initial appointment.

Our report and recommendations are based on the information provided by you during the assessment, and as such we are not liable for any issues arising from incomplete or inaccurate information provided by you. Please also refer to our main Terms & Conditions.
