About the Snakes & Ladders and Ludo
You will never win the game if you don’t play! Let everyone join in with the Snakes & Ladders and Ludo set that has been specifically designed for those living with dementia.
The games that everyone knows and loves, follow simple and easy to follow rules. For Snakes and Ladders, the players take turns to draw a card that states how many places they must move. If the player lands on a ladder they get a boost up the board, but if they land on a snake the play is send back on the board. To win the game simply be the first to cross the finish line.
Simply turn over the board if you fancy playing Ludo, all you need to do is take turns moving around the board but be careful of other players as if you both land on the same square you are sent back to the start. First player to get all their counters back to home will win!
However, small modifications have been made to allow those with mid stages of dementia to enjoy the game with everyone else. The board has bright and contrasting colours that clearly guide the players round the board without any stress. The time the games take to complete has been reduced to ensure optimum focus and engagement during the whole duration. The dice has been swapped for large, numbered cards that are easier for the players to see and hold.
The game has been proven to strengthen connections and boosts the independence of dementia sufferers. Most of all, the game allows them to feel included and enjoy a fun and happy experience with others.
